Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has told religious leaders in the country to beware of politicians with big ideas.

Wike gave the advice when he parted company with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Steering Committee of Dr. Tajudeen Adigun of FCT Imams Initiative (CFII) on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the minister, politicians who want power can do everything to divide the country for their personal interests.
In the meeting with the CAN government chaired by its national president, Most Rev. Daniel Okoh, Wike said: “Let me warn us all. You say you are not a politician but beware of politicians. Be careful with politicians who eager to gain power.
“Be careful with politicians who can do anything because of power. Not everything you read on social media is true. Go and ask.
He continued: “I am here as the FCT Minister, if there is something you are trying to do in the FCT, do not hesitate, as you have written for this appeal, do not hesitate to also asked, this thing. I hear, is it right?
Wike noted that “there are people who cannot face us politically, what they do is run to the religious leaders and say, do you know this person?
The minister again urged religious leaders to preach the gospel in support of the country’s political leader pointing out that when a leader emerges after the election, people should leave their they think personally and pray for the leaders to succeed in order for the country to progress.
“God has chosen a president for this country, pray for him to succeed. Decisions are being taken to correct the wrong way it has been done. This is not the time to condemn, but help Nigeria grow up.”
Likewise, the minister told the CFII to beware of politicians who do not love the country, but the angels of disunity in the country.
Wike said: “Be careful as a religious leader; don’t allow politicians, those who are ambitious and those who think that if they are not in power, Nigeria should go down to sell or exchange information.
“Anything you don’t understand, don’t hesitate to ask, that’s what you heard, what’s the situation? But if you follow the propaganda of the political leaders then you are not doing anything right for yourself.
“Politics is over; a president emerged. It is up to you leaders to pray to God to guide the president, give him wisdom, and bring ideas that will make the nation grow. If he fails, Nigerians have failed,” he said.
Earlier, Okoh said the CAN leader was in his office to express full support to Wike’s leadership and pray for his success.
He reiterated CAN’s determination to continue to engage stakeholders and strengthen the community.
He asked the minister to award the contract for the second phase of the renovation of the center, adding that the first phase was completed in May 2023.
In the same vein, the chairman of CFII, Adegun, who described Wike as a true Nigerian, promised support and advice for growth, development, and unity in the FCT.
