Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane Has Declared That He Is Leaving
Last Saturday, after Real Madrid’s elimination from the Champions League and before Sevilla’s match in LaLiga Santander, Zidane informed his players of his decision to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season in a post-training meeting.
Onda Cero reported this news, and MARCA confirmed that the meeting occurred on May 8.
Having considered his decision carefully, the Real Madrid coach said he had arrived at a final decision: his time at the club is over and that it was time to move on.
He is leaving Los Blancos’ dugout for a second time, but it no longer surprises as much as he did last season.
“There are times when you need to be there and times when you have to leave for the good of all,” he explained his mysterious words to the press ahead of the Athletic Club match.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is looking to win a 12th championship – having won 11 titles – as the season nears its conclusion. The only player who has added more silverware to the trophy cabinets is Miguel Munoz, who won 14.
It is confirmed that Zidane will leave Real Madrid before the end of the season. Finding a replacement for him will be difficult. Raul or Massimiliano Allegri is best placed to succeed Zidane.
Raul – who is wanted by Eintracht Frankfurt and Massimiliano Allegri – is the top candidate to succeed a former teammate. Joachim Low is also a good option.
