Solskjaer Provides Injury Update On Maguire Ahead Of Europa
League Final
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could give no guarantees about Harry
Maguire’s fitness ahead of the Europa League Final.
Manchester United saw off Roma in midweek to make their
first final under the Norwegian.
But they could now be forced to take on Villarreal in Gdansk
on May 26 without their ever present skipper after he hobbled off in Sunday’s
win over Aston Villa.
Maguire clashed with Anwar El Ghazi and was subsequently
forced off with 12 minutes remaining.
Solskjaer admitted after the contest that the injury could
yet keep him out for a month.
United will play four times in 12 days before the season
ends, starting with Tuesday’s visit of Leicester.
After that they play Liverpool in their rearranged fixture
before taking on Fulham and Wolves.
Solskjaer’s side then have three days between the Premier
League season concluding and the Europa League Final in Poland.
Maguire had not missed a single minute of league action
since joining United from Leicester in 2019 but that run will now come to an
end.
The Red Devils boss had bemoaned the fixture pile-up before
Maguire’s injury and said he would have to play a much changed team at some
point.
England boss Gareth Southgate will also be keeping tabs on
the situation with Maguire crucial to his plans.
The Three Lions begin their Euro 2020 campaign on June 13
against Croatia.
