Portugal Wildfire: Death Toll Rises To Seven As Fire Rages
Seven people including three (3) firefighters have died as wildfires sweep across northern and central Portugal. More than 50 people have been injured, as 54 fires burn.
5,300 firefighters have been battling the infernos since it the blazes started raging.
Greece, France, Spain and Italy have sent water-bombing planes to assist with putting out the flames.
So far, the fires have consumed over 10,000 hectares of land, human and material resources near Aveiro. Authorities warn of worsening conditions as the country faces one of its highest fire risks ever.
The infernos is purported to have been fueled by extreme heat and winds.
