General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, claims that the military airstrikes against the Lakurawa terrorist group in Sokoto were flawless.
According to the DAILY POST, a fighter plane killed at least ten people and injured several others when it bombed two settlements in the state’s Silame Local Government Area.
The Sokoto State Government, meanwhile, claimed that the ten victims of the strikes were defenseless villagers.
But the CDS insisted that those slain were criminals when he spoke to reporters at the Giginya Cantonment Sokoto on a visit to the state the day after the event.
However, he stated that an inquiry would be started into the situation.
“You become a target once you do that, and we have people who still harbor those people.” We kindly ask that you avoid letting them hover around you and refrain from providing them with any kind of assistance.
“We carried out the operation that resulted in yesterday’s event. We followed up to make sure we didn’t make any mistakes. We will look into any additional errors that may have occurred.
Based on our observations, there were criminals there. They included everyone who played with them.
“Always keep in mind that those guys want to use the media to spread their message, so we want to appeal to the media.” Therefore, it is risky to accept their statements,” he stated.
He asserted that the military would carry on with its operations and battle criminal elements without compromising its efforts to prevent civilian casualties, even in the face of the criticism surrounding the airstrikes.
