La Liga: You’ll Regret If You Leave – Florentino Perez Warns Real Madrid Star, Marco Asensio
Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, has informed Marco Asensio that he would be sorry to leave the team.
According to a Real Madrid Confidencial rumor, that was prior to the Spanish attacker leaving the Santiago Bernabeu last year.
In the summer of 2023, Asensio joined PSG on a free transfer from the Chairman League and La Liga winners.
He played a season-long loan with Espanyol before joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2015.
He made 286 games over the next seven years with the La Liga powerhouses, tallying 61 goals and 32 assists.
At Real Madrid, the midfield player won four FIFA Club World Cups, three La Liga championships, and three Champions League trophies.
Asensio found it difficult to make a name for himself in the starting lineup, even with his success and contribution.
Because of this, when his contract expired last year, the Spain international was eager to leave.
Asensio chose to leave for PSG on a free transfer, despite reports that Madrid’s management tried to bind him to a new contract.
Real Madrid Confidential said that Perez said to Asensio (via Madrid Universal):
“You’ll regret it if you leave.”
