In 2017-2018, Pep Guardiola was named League Managers Association’s manager of the year.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was named the League Managers Association’s manager of the year.

City won their third Premier League title in four years under the Spaniard.

Aside from winning the Carabao Cup, the club is facing Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Also in contention were Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, Norwich manager Daniel Farke, Chelsea Women’s Emma Hayes, West Ham’s David Moyes, and Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers.

“I am delighted to win the LMA manager of the year award for the second time,” said Guardiola, who previously won it in 2017-18.

“It is, for me, such a special trophy to win because it is voted for by my fellow managers. An award like this is only possible though if a manager is surrounded by top professionals.

“My players have been fantastic – their dedication and professionalism never wavered, even in a season that has been the most challenging we have ever faced.

“And my staff are also deserving of the highest praise. I am so lucky to have a team of people who give everything they have every single day to make sure Manchester City are the best we can be.

“This award is dedicated to and shared with them.”

First women’s soccer manager to be listed among the top six LMA managers of the year is Hayes. She is among the top six candidates for the award.

As manager of Chelsea, she guided the team to the women’s final and FA Women’s Super League title.

Apart from Farke, Grant McCann of Hull City, Michael Duff of Cheltenham Town, and Jonathan Morgan of Leicester Women were also voted managers of the year in their respective leagues.

Rangers captain Steven Gerrard was also presented with the LMA special achievement award after going undefeated in the Scottish Premiership.
