Give Palliatives Without Putting Lives Of Beneficiaries In Danger – APC Senator Admonishes

Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, the chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, has counseled wealthy people and benefactors to provide palliatives without putting the lives of the intended recipients in jeopardy.

At the commencement of the 114th Islamic Vocation Course, which was organized by the Muslims Society of Nigeria, MSSN, B-Zone, Salisu, who is the National Assembly representative for Ogun Central Senatorial District, offered the advice.

According to the DAILY POST, a stampede that broke out during the distribution of palliatives in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Maitama, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, a few days ago claimed the lives of at least fifty persons.

Speaking to reporters, Salisu advised Nigerians to take precautions that will prevent stampedes at public gatherings and pointed out that those in charge of events involving large crowds should implement safety and security measures.

“I must first express my sympathies to the victims and their families for that extremely distressing event in the final weeks of the year,” stated Salisu. For Nigerians, this year has been extremely difficult.

So, first and foremost, my condolences. I’m wishing the sufferers a speedy recovery. I worry because I believe that every death weakens mankind. Whether abroad or in Ibadan, Anambra, or Abuja.

However, what the federal government has done is what matters most. If we wish to provide palliatives, we must make sure that the right procedures are in place.

“Please make sure that the palliatives are administered in a way that doesn’t endanger the intended recipients’ health and safety.

“Let’s take action to provide palliative care without putting the recipients’ lives in jeopardy. And from now on, we have to make sure that no crowding leads to a stampede.
