Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin Provides 63 Cars, 1037 Motocycles To Party Chieftains
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is dedicated to strengthening its members and Nigerians in general, according to Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin, who has called the party’s most recent intervention “just the beginning of the beginning.”
He made this revelation on Sunday at an empowerment seminar.
According to Barau, party officials who are already devoted members of society were given priority in the program.
“We decided to start with empowering our party leaders who are part and parcel of the society. We know that the members of the leadership of APC are well-to-do people because most of them are farmers and hardworking people,” said Jibrin.
Jibrin provided 63 cars and 1,037 motorcycles to party leaders at the ward and local government levels as part of the initiative.
Barau clarified that the goal of this empowerment was to help the recipients become economically independent and self-sufficient.
“The reason is this: we want them to give an okada rider [a motorcycle] so that the beneficiaries will be independent, feed the people he is feeding, or even use it himself. When that is done, the money will help,” he added.
The senator further emphasized that the distribution of vehicles would create employment opportunities, as each leader receiving a car would be expected to employ a driver.
“That will go a long way to reduce problems in our society,” he noted.
APC’s dedication to more extensive empowerment initiatives that target farmers, women, traders, and students was also reaffirmed by Barau.
He promised that the project is just a preview of what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has in store.
“What we are doing is just a tip of the iceberg compared to what our president, Tinubu, has planned for us,” he said.
He went on to say that students, particularly those at Bayero University, would greatly benefit from programs like the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
“You see what he is doing with NELFUND, students can now go to school. He has also created a commission to intervene, restructure, and improve infrastructure.”
Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC’s national chairman, praised the Deputy President of the Senate for the empowerment and encouraged others to do the same.
Additionally, Ganduje praised the Tinubu administration’s economic changes, saying they were having a beneficial impact.
“The cost of petrol has started coming down, the cost of food items has started coming down, and the value of the naira has started appreciating. Our country will be taken to the next level.”
Among the notable APC figures in attendance were Prince Abdullahi Abbas, the APC chairman for Kano State, and Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream).
Party chairmen in Kano State’s 484 wards and 44 local government areas received the automobiles and motorcycles.
