Biafran militants kill three Cameroonian soldiers in Bakassi gunfight


An alleged attempt by a unit of the Cameroonian Army known as the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) to invade the Atabon East community in Idabato area of ​​Bakassi Peninsula has been reportedly thwarted by separatist militants loyal to the Biafra nation. league (BnL).

The incident occurred around 4pm on October 31st.

Dragon Fighter Marines, a division of the BnL, claimed responsibility for the defensive attack against the BIR, said to be the elite force of the Cameroonian president. Three Cameroonian soldiers were reportedly killed in the gunfight.

Biafran separatists are reportedly active on the fringes of the Bakassi Peninsula.

Sources said the battle for control of Idabat lasted no more than 30 minutes, forcing the BIR to withdraw from the area.

The Cameroonians rushed into an ambush and suffered casualties as the militants opened fire from behind.

Nigerian authorities are yet to react to this development.
