Australia To Ban Kids From Social Media
The Australian government plans to ban children and infants from social media by 2024. The decision, led by PM Anthony Albanese, is aimed at keeping children off social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, amongst others.
Experts warn that enforcing the ban may face major hurdles with regards to privacy concerns and effectiveness of technologies in place for age verification.
Similar trials in the United States and the United Kingdom have revealed potential flaws in the past, and difficulties in ensuring compliance from tech companies.
